Elon Musk is challenging the idea that economic success is a zero-sum game where one person’s gain must come at another person’s expense.
In a video from a recent interview circulating on X, Musk argued that the economy isn’t a fixed-size pie.
Instead, he believes innovation, entrepreneurship and value creation can expand the pie, creating new wealth and opportunities along the way.
“If you have a zero-sum mindset, then the only way to get ahead is by taking things from others.”
Musk says the focus should be on creating more value than we consume, rather than fighting over a limited pool of resources.
He also pointed out that even technologies and innovations that raise ethical questions can potentially generate significant value, expand available resources and improve living standards over time.
His broader message: don’t fight over the crumbs when you can build a bigger pie.
